ID PROTECTION is an app that helps you protect your personal information, such as user­names, pass­words, and credit card numbers by alerting you on the breached online services that you are using and by giving you specific instructions on how to recover from the incident with minimum damage. It is also a pass­word manager where you can create new strong pass­words and store all your login credentials in your own secure vault.

After installing simply add the email address you want to monitor. ID PROTECTION will alert you if any online service tied to that email address has been part of a data breach and show you what personal information might be at risk. We will then give you concrete guide­lines on what to do next and how you can prevent identity theft.

You can easily add all your existing credentials in the vault tab and also use it to create new stronger pass­words. Enable auto-fill from the app to add your login credentials by default for quicker logins to online services. All you need to remember is your master pass­word to log in.

On desktop, use your browser to log in to My F‑Secure account: click Install ID PROTECTION and follow instructions. To install the app on your mobile device, search F‑Secure ID PROTECTION in Google Play Store or App Store and down­load the app. Log in with your My F‑Secure credentials or create a new account. If you are new to ID PROTECTION you need to create a master pass­word that you need for future logins and to access all your stored data, remember to store this safely!

When you first installed ID PROTECTION, you were prompted to create a recovery QR code that can be used to restore your master pass­word. It is a unique and personal code that is the only way of regaining access to the app, if you have forgotten it. For your security, F‑Secure cannot restore any master pass­words, as this would mean accessing your master pass­word, which could be considered a security risk.

If you haven’t created a master pass­word recovery code there is unfortunately no way to get access to the app.

If you have already a My F‑Secure account for SAFE, this account is not compatible with ID PROTECTION, due to technical reasons.

This means that for ID PROTECTION, you must create a completely new My F‑Secure account with a different email address. You will then have two separate My F‑Secure accounts: one for SAFE and one for ID PROTECTION.

You can always upgrade your SAFE account to TOTAL, which includes SAFE, FREEDOME and ID PROTECTION under one account. If you already have a My F‑Secure account for TOTAL, you should see ID PROTECTION in the TOTAL apps menu.

It’s easy to take ID PROTECTION into use. We have gathered all information and a step-by-step guide to start using ID PROTECTION.

ID PROTECTION can monitor social security number, credit card number, phone number, bank account number (IBAN), pass­port number, driving license number and user­name/game tag.

With an F‑Secure ID PROTECTION subscription (and F‑Secure TOTAL subscription), when you create your My F‑Secure account, the email address that you use for the account is automatically added to monitoring. F‑Secure sends a confirmation email to the address in question and you need to confirm the email address before you can access the detailed information about the breaches and leaked data if any.

You can start monitoring your other email addresses either through your My F‑Secure or through the F‑Secure ID PROTECTION app. The other types of personal information can be added for monitoring in My F‑Secure. My F‑Secure can be accessed through the desktop apps or the My F‑Secure login page.

If you have a 5-device subscription you can monitor up to 5 of each type of personal information. This means 5 email addresses, 5 credit card numbers, 5 user­names, etc. Same applies if you have a 10-device subscription. You can monitor up to 10 of each type of personal information.
